Here, our Fashion Stylist Lynda Bell has put together four of her favourite Christmas Day outfit ideas for the festive season and beyond.

1. What to wear on Christmas Day... for lounging

The excitement of Christmas morning remains unmatched, and if you're rising early, make sure comfort is your top priority. Begin the day with a hot beverage in a large, colourful mug, then slather on a soothing lavender balm or face mask to give yourself a quick pampering treat before the chaos. Slip into something comfortable but stylish along with some fun but festive plush red slippers. ‘A co-ord set is a more polished way to capture the comfort of PJs while still getting dressed up,’ says Lynda. To finish off the look, add some matching jewellery then get set for present-opening.

2. What to wear on Christmas Day... for lunch

Give the traditional Christmas jumper a makeover and instead choose a printed knitted bomber worn with some soft and slinky metallic trousers. ‘Keep your look tonal with on-trend pinks and reds for a coordinated outfit,’ recommends Lynda. ‘A touch of metallic adds the glam factor - no one needs to know these trousers have an elasticated waistband...' Keep your hair back with a brightly coloured hairband, and add some colourful earrings and a bracelet, along with some glittery flats for extra sparkle.

3. What to wear on Christmas Day... on a wintry walk

Heading outside for a Christmas Day walk? Keep the winter chill at bay with some stylish layering, throwing a fluffy coat over a knitted top and jeans. ‘I love teaming bold, feminine coats with chunky welly boots. The high/low styling is still going strong,’ says Lynda. Wrap up your look with a crossbody bag and a woollen beanie hat.

4. What to wear on Christmas Day... for parties and drinks

For seasonal soirees and evening drinks, come dressed to impress with Christmas party outfits that include decadent liquid metallics and statement jewellery. Pair a show-stopping gold tiered midi dress with colour-pop accessories and disco heels, then top off with eye-catching earrings and contrasting hair slides. 'You can’t go wrong with gold,’ says Lynda. ‘My favourite detail is the sassy black lace tights, which lend a cool French vibe to the look.’
