Candle FAQs
How long should you burn a candle?
While each candle has a unique burn time, it’s important to extinguish your candle when it has 10mm of wax left. This prevents the bottom of your pot from overheating, risking damage to the vessel and your home. We always recommend placing the vessel on a heat resistant surface to prevent any further damage.
As the wick burns and the wax around it melts, this creates a wax pool. To get the best out of your candle, allow the melted wax pool to reach the edge of the candle vessel before extinguishing. This will allow the candle to burn evenly and prevent tunnelling. Can I reuse my candle jar?
There are lots of creative ways to recycle candle jars, and they can be reused as storage, mini plant pots and tealight holders. Read our favourite ideas and step-by-step guide to give your candle a new lease of life. How can I burn my candle safely?
Burn your candle for at least two hours, and no more than four hours, at a time. Never leave it unattended.
Once the wax has cooled, it's a good idea to trim the wick to 5mm. If left untrimmed, the excess wick will start to curl and form ‘clubbing’ at the top. This can cause the wick to smoke, create tunnelling in the wax and affect the candle’s fragrance.
Keep the wax pool clear of matches and debris to avoid flaring.
Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface and away from draughts.
All our candles come with use and care instructions, and you can also find ways to optimise the fragrance diffusion and burn performance on the base of each candle jar.
