What is TENCEL ™ Lyocell?

The responsible production of TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres uses at least 50% less water and emits at least 50% less CO2 compared to generic lyocell and modal fibres, according to Higg MSI^, thereby saving precious resources for future generations.

TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres are certified with the widely recognised EU Ecolabel.* This label is awarded to products meeting high environmental standards throughout their entire life cycle.

The wood used as raw material for all TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres is sourced from controlled or certified origins meeting FSC® or PEFC standards.**

Closed loop production

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are produced in a closed loop process which recovers 99.8% of the solvent – resulting in close-to-zero wastage.

Biodegradable

TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres are certified for biodegradability and compostability in various environments.*** In combination with compatible blending partners, dyes and finishes, TENCEL™ fibres contribute to the biodegradability of textile products.

Traceable

TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres are produced with a molecular marker. This special identification technology ensures the authenticity and traceability of TENCEL™ fibres even after processing into textile products.

How it feels

Effective moisture control ensures TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres support a natural dry feeling. Fibres are naturally soft and smooth to the touch.

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres absorb sweat efficiently, resulting in reduced moisture on the fibre surface. This creates a less favourable environment for the growth of odour-causing bacteria.
