The inspiration

Our natural wood furniture collections have been very popular, and the Home & Gift Team wanted to create something that incorporated that element but in a new and interesting way. ‘Pattern is a huge part of our identity,’ says Head of Home & Gift Design Kate Butler, ‘and it’s often how we add excitement to our products.’ The team were keen to use pattern for the range while making sure the furniture was beautiful, had longevity and would be easy to live with.

‘We were inspired by vintage woven ikat fabric,’ Kate continues, ‘and our in-house print designer created some pattern around this that we felt worked perfectly with the cane and mango wood.’

Finishing touches

‘It is all in the detail,’ Kate explains, describing how every edge and angle has received a design flourish. Considered finishing touches include smoothly carved curves on the surface tops and tactile ridged edging, giving a juxtaposition of textures that are pleasing both to the eye and touch. Tapered legs and the mix of materials add extra interest and form.

‘A simple wooden pull handle sits alongside a hammered gold-finish drawer knob, all combining to create an elegant and unique furniture range,’ says Kate.
